Yes indeed. The fire ants do add a little something special to the March of Death. Thanks to the 6 am crew, we were able to locate all of the hills and we had them marked for the rest of the classes. Keep up the good work, Brad, and the rest of the 6 am group.
Seriously, we'll do a better job of trying to locate the danger zones.
With all due respect to the newbies who, by the way, are kicking ass so far this camp . . . nothing separates the vets and newbies like a good old fashioned March of Death. I first noticed this my inaugural camp and it's a truism that seems to stand the test of time.
Take heart, newbies, this will get easier (I don't think that's the right word) . . . it will get less daunting over time.
Congrats to surviving and completing even one lap this morning. It's no joke!
Just wanted to know why I was in a bit of pain this afternoon and I'm sure tomorrow, so i calculated the distances (thanks to great satelite imagery and gps tracking tools) for our MOD today:
Lunges: 250m Crab: 25m Skip Run: 250m Bear: 35m
Therefore a grand total of 560m or .35 miles of death per lap...
In true Greg fashion, I'll add my little haiku:
'Till death do us part Lunging, crawling and dying FitWit ain't no game!!!
Dude! Thank you, Jerome, for the actual distance calculations. I read Josh's estimate of about 100m of lunges and said, "Bull***t!" :-) My quads were on fire for THREE days.

ouch. I'll be taking the elevator instead of the stairs today.
Additional level of difficulty: Fire Ants!
My hand is swollen and itchy.
I think I bear crawled right through a bunch of em.
HINT HINT to team... someone needs to do ant patrol!
Lets get Paulie bear-crawling the fields to find em!

Fire ants also tore up my Muddy Buddy, Susanne.
Any sense of the distances we did for each of the segments? I was trying to explain it to friends and was having a hard time estimating distances.
And man, oh man, I hope Greg is right. That thing killed me.
Brandon - tough to gauge. Lunge is around 100 meters or so. Crab/Bear around 20-30 meters.
We've actually had one march that went lunges all the way around the track with pit stops of bear/crab walk.
Pssst, Greg ... when does it get easier?
