Let me be the first to congratulate Jerome on winning the "Sweat Off". Nice job! Additionally, let me say that I was thoroughly appalled by the ginormous amount of sweat you were able to produce. I'm surprised you don't look like a prune after losing that much juice. :-)

Dolphin Boy - let me edumicate you on some basics about human anatomy. Sweating is the production and evaporation of a fluid, consisting primarily of water as well as a smaller amount of sodium chloride, that is excreted by the sweat glands in the skin. Sweating is primarily a means of thermoregulation. Evaporation of sweat from the skin surface has a cooling effect due to the latent heat of evaporation of water. Hence, in hot weather, or when the individual's muscles heat up due to exertion, more sweat is produced.

Next, take this 9 question quiz and pay particular attention to the correct answer of question 2, it will continue to validate the point I'm trying to establish: http://sportsmedicine.about.com/library/quiz/blquiz2_q1.htm

So, having established some facts, and tested out skills with a small quiz, now we are ready to conclude this small lesson. We now know that sweat is the result of exertion and the more in shape you are the more you sweat. Therefore, if you step up your workouts and try harder, maybe you'll be an "athlete" and be able to sweat like me... Sadly, if you had done, no let me rephrase, tried double unders instead of singles, perhaps it would have gotten you closer to that goal. Fortunately not all was lost of this mornings workout, at least you were able to have some enlightening conversations...

As a small girl on a playground, I was faced with a choice - jump rope with the girls or play football with the boys. I chose to play with the boys! Shocking, I know! So my jump rope skills suck and for one of the first times in camp I was one of the last people to finish. But if ever we have a throw a football, go out for a pass and catch it, or even design a play contest...I will kick some a$$. Since my Harry Potter book is too heavy to lift at this point my shoulder and I will be curled up on the floor somewhere this weekend.

I haven't jumped rope since middle school (or was it elementary?) so it took a while for me to get used to it.. I did finally manage 59 fast jumps in a row near the end so that was a good sign.

Now we just need some hula hoops and pogo sticks! (I used ot be a mean pogo sticker!)
