Ok, it took me a while to come up with my encouraging words to the newbies…..true to my boot camp form, I am a little late with the post, never the leader of the pack, but I do eventually get across the finish line!

Part of my job requires that I stay somewhat physically fit (pretty compelling reason to work out, tie it to yer paycheck!). Soon after my pregnancy, I realized that my “get out of jail free” card was about to expire, and that I only had two months left on my medical waiver. I was a desperate woman…..

Body by Baby is usually not a pretty sight. All the months of altered fat metabolism and an ever expanding waistline took its toll. I became a pudgy, pasty, tired shell of my former self (so sad, this is the part of the story where you pity me). I had nightmares that I became like other women in my family (out of luv they shall remain nameless) who have to hold up their ti*s just to find the belt loops. Think of a female version of Humpty Dumpty…you get the picture.

So at three months post partum, I joined boot camp. At that time, I could do a whopping three pushups (girly-girl style) and maybe six sit ups (cheating of course, with someone holding my down my feet and pulling up on my hands). ..so err ummmm I guess you can’t really count those six sit ups, but so as not to totally shatter my battered sense of ego, I did.

I have now been in boot camp for three cycles. I have lost 50 pounds since the Stick was born. (Ok, Josh and crew don’t get creds for all 50 pounds, but I AM down 15 pounds and two sizes from pre-pregnancy weight.) I now no longer qualify for the c-section sit-up handicap. Josh bestowed upon me all the rights and responsibilities of a full-on-bean camper, and I take my medicine like everyone else.

And my physical readiness test? I did better than I ever have. :)

Even though getting up at 5 am really sucks, it is worth it. Thanks to all you guys for making exercise fun again (check my head, are burpies really fun?)

See y’all in the mornin’!
