The Night Before Slacking
'Twas the night before FitWit, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even Jerome
The sweats were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Josh Guerrieri soon would be there;
Greg, Jill, and the other children were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of slacking danced in their heads
And Andrea in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,
When out at the school there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash (yeah right),
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of Southside's field
Made motions in the dark all but revealed
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But Josh Guerrieri and all his FitWit gear!
With a little old truck, so slick and so posh,
I knew in a moment it must be St. Josh
More rapid than eagles his campers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, Mark! now, Jessica! now, Ed and Lauren!
On, Dawn! on Jelena! on, Jess and Bryan!
To the top of the field! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to Southside field, the veterans they flew,
along with the newbies (who worked their a** off too!)
And then, in a twinkling came the sound of thunder
as the campers bled sweat and did the 500!
Push ups, sit ups, barrier jumps
made all the harder by carrying large metal lumps
One massive bar, each camper did hold
As they lifted and heaved in the blistering cold
So glad, was I, that I didn't come out
That I jumped back in bed with a whimperous shout
Exercise is good - just not all the time
Sometimes slacking is better -- perhaps even divine
As sleep crept over me, I pulled the covers tight
But in the back of my head, I knew this wasn't right
What do I do when it doesn't feel right?
I will make this up -- at six PM tonight!
Oh my goodness!!! I love you Santa!!!! You are too hilarious! :)
