Goals for this camp and for 2009

Setting realistic goals helps you stay focused and motivated to push yourself everyday. I'd like every camper to think about concrete goals for this camp as well as larger goals for 2009. Posting them for the world to see makes you vulnerable, but it opens you up to a FitWit community that can hold you accountable and relish your successes.

So please post both 6-week camp goals and 2009 goals. The challenge is on!

I would like to drop a few pounds.

I'd like to tone my arms and be comfortable with doing at least 10-15 push-ups in regular form (not on my knees).

I would like to not get sick while working out in the school, drop to a 7min 10 sec mile, and work on the road since I will travel a bit this camp. Josh - I will be out skiing until Monday! Dawn (Grandma)

1. Have perfect attendance and hydrate at least 64-100 oz of water EVERY day.

2. Push myself beyond comfort--I've gotten very, very lax in that department.

3. Help motivate newbies and junior varsity vets, while keeping my focus. (Maybe I'll always put a mat between Bwaaa and a newbie, so I can motivate and be motivated.)

4. Break an 8 minute mile.

5. Drop some PERMANENT lbs and not just those, "I skipped two meals and haven't had anything to drink yet this morning" lost lbs.

6. Perfect my squats and sit-ups to where they match my pushups. And do 50 unbroken, PERFECT pushups.

7. Win the National Championship in college basketball.

8. Get healthy so that I can resume my pull-up competition with Bwaaa and Vwaaa.

9. See Carolina beat dook so bad that Jessie and Doobie skip a whole week of camp and, even when they do return, they don't have the courage to look me in the eye and can't keep their eyes from welling up with tears when they think about the game.

10. Not get injured.

11. To give up the ancient art of haiku, and make top ten lists for the blog all year long. Unless of course, I need to go to eleven . . . like my favorite amp.

Perfect form even when a trainer isn't standing over me.

Enter the "puky" zone more often.

Maintain sub 7:00min mile or beat Jill G every time we run it!! :-)

Besides just dropping a few pounds, I would like to push myself farther than before. I will push myself to complete each exercise without stopping. On off days and weekends, I will get out and mountain bike or run more.

As the ultimate newbie (new to FitWit, new to attempting anything that looks like physical activity), I have modest 6 week goals. I'm going to show up, I am going to do what is asked and I'm going to try and do that without throwing up or passing out.

As far as 2009, I want to make real progress towards dropping 20 lbs and being healthy.

my goals relate to process: give 100% at camp, consistent attendance, and eat well and complete food log.

6 week goals:
- work aggressively to heal my wrist/elbow tendonitis which means among other efforts, 1) don't re-injure, 2) exercise to keep blood circulating
- learn to do a double under; do at least two
- stay on the eating plan
- figure out how to be happy with veggie-based mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks
- squat integrity

2009 goals
- transition to pushups on toes
- dips 10 at a time without stopping
- perfect my squat, overcome weak hip flexors
- >=60 sec plank
- do more than 10 double unders at a time
- improve my endurance, I have bursts of energy that I take advantage of during some workouts, but then lose gas (metaphorically) quickly
- achieve consistency in (good) eating plan
- receive an "ah-ha" or a click in my knowledge of or commitment to achieving/maintaining fitness
- get to know my fellow campers better

I guess if I put my goals on the blog I'll HAVE to do them and you all will then make me.

2009
1. Run ING half
2. Always choose the harder option- double under, heavy weights, and pull-ups, etc
3. Do 5 unassisted pull-ups
4. Run a consistent sub 7:00 mile and apparently beat Bryan

6 weeks
1. Perfect attendance- That’s right I said it! If my car is able to get me there, I'm going to try and be there.........gulp
2. Be on time
3. No fried foods

My goals are:
1. I am NOT a morning person but working out at 7am seems to be the only realistic option for me to be able to maintain on a consistent basis. Goal #1 is to make getting up at 6:15am to work out a routine and eventually, not a big deal.
2. I would like to lose 8 – 10 pounds by summer
3. I would like to improve my 5k time to be under 30 minutes
4. Generally reduce flab – especially in the waist & back region

6 Week Goals...
Since I am only attending camp twice a week, I want to commit to working out at least 2 other days (preferably 3) on my own.

And, I also want to eat better (even though SOME people don't think I tried last session.. I did... but I am going to give it more of an effort this time!)

2009 Goals...
I want to get my mile to under 8 minutes... don’t care if it’s 7:59! Actually, I’d like to be able to do 2 sub-8 miles (not 2 miles in under 16 minutes, but both as sub-8... make sense?!?!).

I want to also do 60 sit-ups in 60 seconds.

I want figure out how to properly do, if not master, the squat.

Finally (and I know you trainers won’t like this one...), I want to lower my body fat percent back to the mid-teens.

Here’s to 2009! Woo-hoo!

My goals... To lose 7-10 lbs. and tone my body. I would also like to get rid of my stomach fat and trim down my waist line. I would also like to get into shape so that I can participate in a 5k, 10k, and half-marathon before October 2009 (I plan to try for another baby in October 2009, I currently have a 2yr daughter).

Wish me luck,
